TERRACE 01 — OVERVIEW

Field records that actually
work for you

Orbwell works with plantation groups, smallholder cooperatives and agri-processing firms across Selangor, Perak and Johor. We consolidate scattered field data, build estimation models for harvest planning, and train field teams to use these tools with confidence.

TERRACE 02 — WHO WE ARE

Grown from the ground up in Malaysian agriculture

Orbwell started in Subang Jaya after spending time with estate managers in Selangor who were doing their accounting in exercise books and their harvest projections on scraps of paper stapled to clipboards. The problem was never a lack of data. It was that the data lived in too many places, recorded by too many hands, in too many formats to be useful when decisions had to be made fast.

Our work is practical and scoped to what Malaysian agri operations actually need: a clean, structured dataset, a planning model with honest error ranges, and field staff who know how to maintain both without depending on outside help every season. We work across Selangor, Perak and Johor, and we adapt to the rhythms of each operation rather than imposing a fixed methodology from elsewhere.

TERRACE 03 — WHAT WE ADDRESS

Three problems that slow down every estate operation

Most plantation management challenges trace back to the same root causes. We've built our work around fixing each one.

Paper field records being consolidated into digital datasets

Data scattered across too many formats

Notebooks, spreadsheets, WhatsApp messages — field records that don't talk to each other are impossible to use for planning. We bring them into a single, validated dataset.

Harvest volume estimation and planning for Malaysian palm oil estates

Harvest estimates that nobody trusts

Planning labour and transport ahead of peak periods requires a credible volume estimate. We build block-level models with clear error ranges so planners know exactly how far to lean on the numbers.

Field supervisors learning to use data tools at Malaysian plantation

Tools that don't survive the first season

Data systems fail when field staff aren't confident using them. Our capability programme runs alongside operations, with pocket guides in Bahasa Malaysia and English and coached internal leads who own it long-term.

TERRACE 04 — OUR APPROACH

How Orbwell works differently

We don't deliver software. We deliver a working data practice — one that field staff run themselves after we leave.

Fixed scope, clear deliverables

Every engagement has a written scope, a defined output, and a completion date. No ongoing subscription, no vague retainer — just work that finishes.

Timelines matched to operations

Data structuring runs three weeks, yield modelling eight, and the technology enablement programme fourteen — each sized to what the work actually takes, not what fits a standard template.

Local language, local context

Field guides in Bahasa Malaysia and English, trainers familiar with Selangor and Johor estate operations, and procedures written for the people who will actually use them day to day.

TERRACE 05 — IN PRACTICE

Consolidating palm oil block records from twelve months of paper logs

From twelve months of paper logs to a single clean dataset

One Johor plantation group came to us with field records spread across three supervisors, two Excel versions and a box of handwritten notebooks going back to 2022. Over three weeks we inventoried every source, built a data dictionary in plain Malay and English, transcribed the records, and set validation rules that flag inconsistencies before they compound.

Yield estimation model dashboard showing harvest projections by block

Harvest estimates with honest error ranges, not false confidence

A Perak estate manager told us they had stopped using their previous forecasting tool because it was always wrong in the same direction. We rebuilt the model at block level, backtested it against three prior seasons, and added a model card that explains exactly where the estimate is weakest — so planners know how much to lean on it when booking lorries and scheduling harvesters two weeks ahead.

TERRACE 06 — WHY ORBWELL

Built for the conditions on the ground

Plantation operations in Malaysia don't look like agricultural data case studies from Europe or the US. The tools and procedures we build reflect that.

Data stays with you

We hand over structured datasets and procedures that your team owns. No proprietary lock-in.

Models that show their limits

Every estimation model includes a model card. You know where it's strong and where to apply judgement.

Procedures field staff can follow

Illustrated pocket guides written in Bahasa Malaysia and English, sized for practical daily use.

On-site where it matters

Field enablement sessions happen at your sites across Selangor, Perak and Johor — not in a training room in KL.

TERRACE 07 — SERVICES

Three engagements, each with a clear scope

Orbwell services are priced in Malaysian Ringgit and scoped to fixed durations. You know what you're getting before we start.

Agronomy data structuring service for plantation field records

3 WEEKS

Agronomy Data Structuring

Field records from notebooks and spreadsheets — input logs, harvest returns, block characteristics — consolidated into a single validated dataset. Includes source inventory, a plain-language data dictionary, transcription of up to twelve months of paper records, validation rules, a starter reporting sheet, and one training session for field staff. Scoped for plantation groups, smallholder cooperatives and agri-processing firms in Selangor, Perak and Johor.

Yield estimation model for harvest planning at Malaysian estates

8 WEEKS

Yield Estimation Model

A block-level model that estimates harvest volumes from historical field records, weather series and block characteristics. Presented with error ranges so planners treat it as a planning aid rather than a certainty. Covers feature engineering, model training, backtesting against three prior seasons, and a planner-facing summary view. Includes a model card describing where the estimate is weakest, plus a seasonal refresh routine for estate staff to maintain it.

Starting from

RM 2,600

Field technology enablement programme for estate supervisors in Malaysia

14 WEEKS

Field Technology Enablement

A capability programme that prepares field supervisors and estate office staff to work with structured data and estimation tools day to day. Covers data entry discipline, reading model outputs, and raising discrepancies. Designed for operations of 30–400 field workers across scattered sites. Includes ten on-site sessions, illustrated pocket guides in Bahasa Malaysia and English, a discrepancy log procedure, coaching for three internal leads, a mid-programme review, and a written adoption assessment at close.

TERRACE 08 — HOW IT WORKS

Three steps from first conversation to working system

01

Discovery call and scope review

We spend 45–60 minutes understanding your current data situation, your planning cycle, and what outcomes actually matter. From that we write a clear scope document before any agreement is signed.

02

On-site and remote delivery

Data structuring and modelling work happens in close coordination with your estate office. Field enablement sessions are conducted at your sites. We share progress at agreed checkpoints so nothing is a surprise at handover.

03

Handover and close-out

All deliverables — datasets, model files, guides, written procedures — are handed over in formats your team can work with directly. For the enablement programme, the close-out includes a written adoption assessment and a briefing for estate leadership.

TERRACE 09 — PRINCIPLES

Three things we refuse to compromise on

Honest scope

We don't take on work we haven't scoped carefully. If your situation doesn't fit one of our services, we'll say so in the discovery call rather than adapt the scope to make a sale.

Uncertainty labelled, not hidden

Yield models carry error ranges. Datasets carry a maintenance log. We build in the places where things can go wrong so you know what to watch rather than what to assume.

Built to last without us

Our goal at the end of every engagement is that your team can run the data systems and the model refresh without calling Orbwell. Independence is the measure of a good handover.

TERRACE 10 — FROM THE FIELD

What estate teams say after working with us

"Before Orbwell, our block records were in three different formats and two of them hadn't been updated consistently since 2021. The data dictionary they produced is something we actually use every week — not just a document that sits on a server."

AH

Ahmad Hazwan

Estate Manager, Selangor — Jul 2026

"The yield model has error ranges — that's what sold it to me. Our previous spreadsheet tool gave one number and that number was always wrong. Now when I tell the operations director we expect 420–460 tonnes, he knows what that means and plans accordingly."

SR

Salmah Rosli

Operations Manager, Perak — Jun 2026

"The pocket guides are the thing I didn't expect to value as much as I do. My supervisors are reading them. One of them told me it's the first procedure document he's ever read from cover to cover — and he's been in the industry eighteen years."

LK

Lim Kah Wai

Plantation Director, Johor — Jul 2026

TERRACE 11 — COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Do we need existing digital records to start data structuring?
No. The data structuring engagement specifically covers transcription of paper records — up to twelve months of notebooks and handwritten logs. We inventory what you have first, then scope the transcription work accordingly.
How much field access do you need during the yield modelling engagement?
We need access to your historical records and ideally a working session with your estate manager at the start to understand block characteristics and seasonal patterns. The modelling itself is mostly remote, with a review session at the eight-week mark before the planner-facing view is finalised.
Can the field enablement programme run across multiple sites at once?
Yes, and it's designed for that. Ten on-site sessions across fourteen weeks are typically distributed across your sites. We schedule based on your operational calendar and can adjust for peak harvesting periods in your area.
What formats are the deliverables in?
Structured datasets are delivered in formats your team can open without specialist software — typically structured spreadsheets with documented schemas, plus a written data dictionary. Model outputs are provided as a planner-facing summary view in a format agreed during scoping. Pocket guides are PDF and print-ready.
What happens if our operation changes after the engagement ends?
Each engagement includes a written maintenance procedure so your team can handle routine changes — new blocks, changed supervisors, updated input types — without calling us. For significant structural changes, we're available for a scoped follow-on review.
Is pricing fixed or does it vary by operation size?
The prices listed are starting points for typical operations. Larger scope — more blocks, longer historical record periods, more scattered sites — is costed separately in the discovery scope review. We write the scope before any agreement is signed.
