Our commitment

Orbwell is committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of the technology or ability they are using to access it. We want the site to be straightforward to read, navigate and interact with for all visitors.

This page describes how we approach accessibility, what we have done to meet our target standard, where we are aware of limitations, and how to get in touch if you experience a difficulty.

Conformance target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at Level AA. WCAG is developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and is the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility.

Measures taken

To support our accessibility commitment, we have taken the following steps:

• Semantic HTML: Pages use proper heading structure (H1–H3), landmark elements (<header>, <main>, <footer>, <nav>), and native interactive elements (<button>, <details>) so that screen readers and other assistive technologies can interpret the page structure correctly.
• Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements — navigation links, buttons, form fields and the cookie preference controls — are reachable and operable by keyboard. Focus states are visible on all interactive elements.
• Colour contrast: Text and background colour combinations throughout the site are selected to meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
• Reduced motion: Where any interactive elements have hover or transition effects, these respect the user's prefers-reduced-motion setting. No content is gated behind animation.
• Descriptive alternative text: Images that convey content carry alt text that describes the image in context. Decorative images are marked as presentational so screen readers skip them.
• Labelled form fields: All form inputs on the site are associated with visible labels using the HTML <label> element. Required fields are indicated programmatically with the required attribute.
• Skip navigation link: A skip link at the top of the page allows keyboard users to bypass the header navigation and go directly to the main content.
• Accessible cookie dialog: The cookie consent dialog uses aria-labelledby, aria-modal, responds to the Escape key, and provides accessible labels on all toggle controls.

Known limitations

While we make every effort to meet WCAG 2.1 AA, we are aware of the following areas where we have not yet fully achieved that standard or where the situation is uncertain:

• The Google Maps iframe embedded on the homepage is provided by a third-party service (Google) and is outside our direct control. Map content may not be fully accessible to screen reader users.
• Content images supplied by placeholder services during development are replaced with contextually appropriate images during deployment; the relevance of alt text is reviewed as part of that process but we cannot confirm all replacements in advance.
